The Ascension of our Lord and The Good Shepherd

Altar Windows

In August 1893 a memorial window, the subject being the Ascension of our Lord, was placed in the east window, in memory of Fanny Susanna Plumptre, glass by Messrs “Lawes, Barrand and Westlake, Sandwell (?) Street, Bloomsbury, W.C. The window has our Lord in the central Light, and His Apostles and Mother in the other two divisions to the right and left. The scripture words are annexed, ”While they beheld He was taken up.” Acts 1, 9.

The Good Shepherd Window

Another stained glass window is in memory of her infant daughter Amy Eleanor Annabella Plumptre, 1864, and represents “The Good Shepherd”. Glass, it is believed, by Messrs Heaton, Butler and Bayne, 14 Garrick Street, Covent Garden. This window was designed by the infant’s Aunt Mrs Murray Cookesley R. G. P.
