The Organ

The present organ dates from 1886 having originally eight "Speaking" stops and three couplers. A Reed-stop was added in 1932 and a Tremulant. The instrument was overhauled and rebuilt in 1959. In 1969 a Fifteenth and a Twelfth were added to brighten up the organ and the Oboe Reed-stop was replaced by a Horn.
Mr. Brian Daniels began improvements in the summer of 1979 and played a recital on the instrument at its re-dedication by the then Rural Dean, John Collins, Vicar of Canford Magna, on February 17th 1980.
The present organ specification enables a more authentic performance of classical and baroque music to be given. It has a better tonal resource for accompaniment purposes, especially valuable for our very fine choir which has one long playing record to its credit.
